Maverick’s Frist Birthday!

Wow, what an amazing year it has been. On September 23, 2019 Maverick John McCoog turned ONE!

I wanted to share some pictures and memories from his special day.

We celebrated in Victor, Idaho and Jackson, Wyoming for a week with my Dad, Step Mom, Sister and Grandmother.

Unfortunately, Justin was away on a TDY (Temporary Duty Assignment.) We were able to FaceTime with him for Maverick’s first cake and throughout the trip. While we were pretty bummed out that he was gone, I did my best to stay positive. I am typically a glass half full type of person, so I kept reminding myself of how thankful we are that Justin was home his entire first year. (I will probably make  a separate post about my first experience solo parenting, so be on the lookout for that!)

For Maverick’s birthday we wanted to make it special! We had a yummy breakfast all together, opened gifts and hung out around the cabin. We also drove up through the Grand Targhee Forrest to see some snow and look for wildlife. Later after a much needed nap we had his first birthday cake and went into Jackson Hole for Bar J Chuckwagon dinner! It was a proper cowboy bash and Maverick had a great time running round and picking up every rock in sight.

Life as a military family means that birthday’s often look a little different. I am so incredibly thankful for all of our family for helping to make Maverick’s day special. I know that every year we may not have the opportunity to take a fun trip, but I am so thankful we were able to this year. Making memories these memories mean the world to me! I can’t wait to tell Maverick all about it when he gets older!

How did your little one celebrate their first birthday?

XOXO- Susan
